Syrian rockets found in the Sea of Galilee

Israel struck targets in Syria late Wednesday after two BM-21 “Grad” errant rockets launched by Islamic State as part of the internal fighting in Syria landed in the Sea of Galilee.

“The Israel Air Force struck the rocket launcher from which the two rockets were fired and by artillery toward the area from which the rockets were fired,” the IDF said.

“The IDF will act against any attempt to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and the security of its residents,” the statement continued.

The rockets were launched group as part of the internal fighting against the regime of Bashar Assad which in recent days has seen intense fighting near the the border with Israel’s Golan Heights.

The rockets were found by authorities after a three hour long search after local residents said that they saw an object fall into the water near the Gofra Beach. The rockets were not intercepted due to the fact that Israel’s aerial defense system is not fully hermetic..
