Nasdaq reaches record heights as Google parent Alphabet leaps 5%

U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday as a deluge of mostly positive earnings underpinned markets. A rally in global equities, which started in Asia also aided sentiment. The S&P 500 rose 50 points, or 0.5%, to 2,822, with the tech sector leading the gains following blowout earnings results by Google‘s parent Alphabet Inc. The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 102 points, or 0.4%, higher to 25,154. The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 70 points, or, 0.9%, to 7,912 at the open. Among the biggest gainers on the S&P 500, shares of Alphabet Inc shares rallied 4.6% after it reported second-quarter results that topped forecasts.
